Have you experienced challenges when applying for work passes for your international talent? Have you found it difficult to apply for employment passes or have them renewed?

The Nordic Business Associations and Chambers warmly invite our members and guests to an interesting seminar focusing on the employment passes application and renewal process for foreign employees. A carefully selected group of speakers will provide our guests with practical first-hand advice from leaders and companies who have experienced the same.

About the speakers:

Dr Bob Aubrey will present EuroCham’s employment survey, share best practice from their correspondence with the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) and discuss the future steps for European businesses. Bob will also give us an overview of the AHDO (ASEAN Human Development Organisation). Bob created the HR Committee at Eurocham Singapore for the purpose of enabling senior executives to share best practices, common concerns, and thought leadership in human development and leadership.

Following the presentation, Bob will be part of a panel discussion discussing the challenges, outcomes and solutions with employment regulations in Singapore. The panel will comprise of individuals with extensive employment pass experience including:

Sam Yuen, Managing Director from Yuen Law LLC. Samuel advises European companies entering the Singapore market on managing their business risk in Singapore, how to localise their contracts with customers, employees and shareholders. Samuel is a firm supporter of start-ups with disruptive potential and believes them to be vital to the Singaporean economy.

Emil Akander, Trade Commissioner of Sweden to Singapore. With more than a decade of experience in international business and policy development in Europe and Asia, Emil advises companies on market entry and market growth strategies across various sectors including healthcare, smart and sustainable cities, fintech, and transport infrastructure.

Anders Ranchil, Vice President and Head of Legal at Telenor Procurement Company. Anders has worked with Telenor in Thailand and Singapore since 2011 and has been responsible for HR in Telenor Procurement Company since its inception in Singapore in 2017. During this time, TPC has had approximately 70 employees on employment passes in Singapore.

Jens Mundbjerg, Reg. HR Director for Grundfos in Asia for the last 2 years . Jens has been working 14 years in Grundfos all together, having different positions in Group HR in HQ in Denmark. He has a broad insight of all HR disciplines and processes with a special interest and in the past a global responsibility within Reward and Performance and mobility. In his role in Singapore he has special attention on growing talent pipelines and utilizing the talents found in the Region. 

About the moderator:

The panel will be moderated by Riku Mäkelä. Riku connects Finnish and Nordic innovators and companies to Southeast Asia through Singapore as a Counsellor for Innovation and Trade at the Embassy of Finland and as a Board Member of the Nordic Innovation House Singapore.
